Our Thoughts On Finland

Where Norway is Motorhome heaven, Lapland/Finland is just the opposite. It’s not impossible but you really need to have some sort of plan. They still have the ‘right to roam’ policy but obtaining water and emptying waste was a bit of a challenge. We didn’t find any Motorhome service points en route, apart from the Shell garage opposite Santa’s Village in Roveniemi. Even the first campsite we stopped at didn’t have facilities for filling a Motorhome with water!
They don’t sell LPG But they do have some stunning places to stop for the night and lots of like minded Motorhomers have added these to the park4night app.
The second time we visited Finland was from Stockholm via the Åland Islands. South west Finland is beautiful but because we had a ferry booked and we wanted to visit Helsinki, we didn’t stop to explore the area. The posh end of the capital was lovely and well worth a visit. Again nearly everyone speaks English and they sell fresh milk lol. To be fair to Finland we only passed through so I’m sure there’s a lot more to see.

Harriet’s Hint - It’s worth planning your route around facilities, even if you only need them every 2 or 3 days and ABC service stations have a place to empty your toilet.
